Everyone has, on occasion, forgotten to take the frozen meat from the freezer in preparation for the evening meal, then either hurriedly defrosted it in the microwave (partially cooking the edges) or having to buy a last minute “fast food” meal. In fact, the tray will be completely cool to the touch! Simply place the defrost tray onto your kitchen counter and add your frozen food to the top. I know this all sounds too good to be true, so here’s a simple test. Place an ice cube onto the defrost tray and another onto a normal household plate, watch as the ice cube on the Defrost Tray melts before your eyes!Thawing times will vary depending on the thickness of the meat but on average it will take between 30 and 60 minutes, much quicker than leaving in the fridge which can take 24hrs to fully defrost and quicker and safer than at normal room temperature, which can take 10 hours. Leaving meat out at room temperature for long periods of time is also unhygienic, allowing bacteria to spread. The Defrost Tray is simple to clean, needing only soap and hot water. Great product…great price. I bought this to replace an old one I had purchased on a shopping network. Unfortunately, it was a bit heavy for me to take out everytime. So, I decided to buy this lightweight one. When it came in, I decided to test which one defrosted quicker (the old one or this new one). This one defrosted quicker. I highly recommend this product. You even get an e-mail from the owners making sure you are happy with their product.

Folks,,, as a man that loves his meat, this defrost tray gets the job done. It’s that simple. No more using kitchen plates or some flimsy cutting board to re-warm your frozen foods. I was able to fit 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts on this bad boy. FOLKS,,,they thawed FAST. The only thing I wish I had done is bought a second one for the Mrs!

Best defrosting tray I have found, with that I did an experiment with this defrosting tray. I defrosted two same size steaks at the same time. 1 with the tray, 1 on the counter. The tray had defrosted the steak in about 1.5 hours. The steak on the counter had only begun to defrost. So for thin meats I think defrosting trays are good deal. However, I believe they would be impractical with thick meats like roasts. And do not think you meat will be defrosted in minutes and save dinner, this is more a defrost late afternoon for dinner type of thing.

The tray arrived and was smaller than I had envisioned for an “Extra Large”. It could barely fit two large chicken breasts on it at once. Do yourself a favor and measure / mark with tape the dimensions of this object, it is barely larger than a dinner plate.The tray also claims to defrost “substantially faster” than just leaving meat out on a counter. It may be slightly faster – but it is by no means going to save your bacon if you get home after work and have forgotten to throw your meat into the fridge to thaw over night. I A-B tested this tray last Sunday, with a chicken breast on the “Defrosting Tray” and a chicken breast on a plate in the kitchen next to it, I measured the internal temperatures of both at the end of nearly three hours. They were within .5 degree of each other. This isn’t particularly surprising since melting ice tends to stay at ~32F/0C, however the chicken also failed to “feel” substantially less frozen between the tray chicken and plate chicken. It took another two hours for both chicken breasts to go from hard lumps of ice to cookable pieces of meat.TLDR: Don’t buy this thinking it will save your bacon if you forget to thaw things and keep you from using the microwave to defrost. If you intend to eat in the next few hours, you’re still going to need to use tap-water or the microwave to speed your defrosting up.

There’s nothing worse than coming home from work and realizing that there aren’t any fresh proteins (chicken/steak/pork/fish) in the fridge to cook. With this defrosting tray, I’m able to grab something from the freezer and have it ready to cook in minutes! The tray is big enough to defrost proteins for the whole family, and I can just throw it in the dishwasher when it’s done! Highly recommend!
