I have yet to beat an egg (or anything) with this… because I’m still trying to imagine how to reattach the handle that literally FELL OFF as I was removing it from its packaging. Upon closer examination of its parts however, I’d say this thing is NOT designed or built to last. All its hardworking internal parts (gears and bearing surfaces) are plastic and flimsy. The beater assembly (and even the individual metal beaters) are detachable for easy cleaning. So that’s good. If i can get the handle to stay on (glue and screws maybe?) I’ll report back on its operation. But my first impression is that it would make a nice gift for a child who has cooking aspirations or wants to help in the kitchen. :-))

I loved this egg beater and bought some as a gift for relatives. However, they all befell the same fate after a few months if light use due to a structural weakness in the design. See photo that shows where these all eventually break.I tried repairing with some Testors plastic glue, but the point that the break occurs is too thin to adequately repair. It is a shame that these all have this design flaw, because it is otherwise the best egg beater there is. I look forward to a newer model where Oxo works out this issue.

These are advertised as dishwasher safe. They aren’t. The bottom part actually shrank and no longer fits the top. Typical lousy product from this company. I’ve gone back to a metal one.

The second one of these mixers I purchased just broke today while I was mixing some eggs. When the first one broke I figured I was just using too much muscle on it. I bought a second one, and was careful with it. I think this thing needs to be in a play cook set for little girls, not in a real kitchen being used by grownups.

I bought this hand beater to replace my old standard hand beater which had been in constant use since I was given it by my mother in 1970. Yes, nearly 50 years ago! The only reason I had to retire that one was because the gears finally froze up and I couldn’t fix them. Normally I like Oxo products, but this one is a sad replacement for the sturdy, fast and powerful old beater with its wide, flat blades which worked so much better than these wimpy wiry things. Not only that, it “stutters” in use, which makes me feel that the beater “blades” (a misnomer for sure) are hitting each other. Very clunky and I am not at all impressed. Will be looking around for better one.
